Higg Index is an innovative self-assessment tool, which can help clothing, retail and institutions of all sizes to self-assess the environmental and social labor performance and identify opportunities for improvement. SAC released version 1.0 of HIGG Index FEM (Facility Environment Module) in 2012, version 2.0 in 2013 and version 3.0 at the end of 2017.
SAC is an industry-wide organization composed of more than 200 leading clothing, footwear and textiles, brands, retailers, suppliers, service providers, trade associations, non-governmental organizations and academic institutions. SAC is committed to reducing the adverse impact of global clothing and textile manufacturing and sales on the ecological environment and society.
1. how to apply for Higg lndex FEM verification?
If you want to participate in the Higg IndexFEM project, you need to do a self-assessment (SAQ) first. You can use the website's self-assessment tool after visiting www.higg.org to register for payment, and download the SAQ results after completion. If the customer needs it, it will send it to a third party recognized by SAC to arrange on-site verification, and the verification results will be released on www.higg.org platform after completion. Your environmental performance can be evaluated by yourself or others (including potential customers).
2. Why do you need a third party to do on-site verification?
At present, most customers only ask enterprises to conduct Higfem self-assessment. However, some customers also require on-site verification. Higfem on-site verification provides additional benefits for the factory, such as objective verification of environmental data, objective opinions on eliminating human bias in environmental performance and confirmation to provide reliable data input for further benchmarking.
3. Is the 3.Higg verification result "passed" or "failed"?
Higg Index project is not a compliance audit, but encourages "continuous improvement", and the verification results are not reflected by "pass" or "fail". It is suggested that the factory should first meet the requirements of Level1, that is, understand the requirements of Higg Index and comply with laws and regulations; Level2&3 (Level 2 and 3) focuses on improving the demonstration of leadership in projects and factories.
